Our work towards a more resource-efficient industry

Smart storage solutions start with understanding the application’s requirements and what makes a difference in practice.
We believe in the value of getting the solution right from the start. With technical expertise, well-thought-out storage solutions and a long-term perspective, we help our customers create the conditions for reliable operation and a longer service life for components.
At the same time, we are working to develop our own business and use resources more consciously. By measuring and monitoring our environmental impact and working on concrete improvements, we aim to contribute to an industry where the focus is on both functionality and resource use.

01 / OUR CONTRIBUTION

Technical choices that affect sustainability

In industrial applications, the choice of bearings can affect service life, friction and operational reliability. We help our customers select bearing solutions based on the application’s requirements and operating conditions.

Longer service life

Bearings with a longer service life need to be replaced less frequently. This reduces material consumption and the need for new components over time.

Friction and energy losses

The bearing’s properties affect friction during operation. The right bearing solution can help to limit energy losses, depending on the application and operating conditions.

Operational reliability

A bearing solution that meets the application’s requirements can contribute to reliable operation and fewer unplanned stoppages. It can also reduce the need for maintenance.

02 / TECHNICAL COATINGS

Testable performance

43%

longer service life in a comparative test

In a separate third-party test, the D&E Bearings WB802 series demonstrated a 43 per cent longer service life than the comparison product under evaluation.

The result applies to the products in question under the specified conditions and cannot be readily extrapolated to other products or operating conditions. The outcome demonstrates the difference in service life, but does not in itself establish any reduction in carbon dioxide emissions.

03 / RESPONSIBILITY IN THE VALUE CHAIN

Responsibility across multiple parts of the value chain

We are working across several areas of our business to use resources thoughtfully and develop long-term partnerships.

Technical advice

We help customers choose bearing solutions based on application and operating conditions, with a focus on function, service life and reliability.

Logistics and Warehousing

Through planned flows and stock management in the Nordic region, we work to ensure good availability in order to reduce the need for express deliveries.

Supplier Responsibility

We set requirements for quality, reliability and responsible business practices in our supplier relationships. Our Code of Conduct sets out the principles that guide our collaboration with our partners.

Employees and the working environment

Skills development, safety and an inclusive working environment are key aspects of our long-term responsibility.

04 / ENVIRONMENTAL WORK

We focus our efforts where we can make the biggest difference

We focus our efforts where we can make the biggest difference

We are constantly working to reduce the environmental impact of our operations and to use resources responsibly.
Our environmental work focuses on the areas where our operations have the greatest impact and where we see opportunities to develop our working methods over time.

Transport

We are working to reduce the environmental impact of transporting people and goods.

Packaging

We strive to use packaging solutions that support the efficient use of resources.

Electricity consumption

We are working to use energy responsibly in our premises and operations. We have, among other initiatives, switched to energy-efficient LED lighting throughout our facilities.

Hazardous waste

We manage environmentally hazardous waste in accordance with applicable requirements and work to minimise the generation of waste.

Company cars

When selecting company vehicles, we take environmental and sustainability aspects into account as part of the decision-making process.

By monitoring these areas, we gain an understanding of where our operations’ environmental impact arises and where there may be scope for improvement.

05 / QUALITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

Structure for a systematic approach

D&E Bearings is certified to ISO 9001 for quality management and ISO 14001 for environmental management.

These certifications form part of the framework for our work on quality, responsibility and continuous improvement.
