Our history over the years

D&E Bearings’ history spans three generations. From its beginnings in Sweden to today’s international operations, the company has grown through technical expertise, commitment and close collaboration with customers and suppliers.

1966 – It all begins in Sweden

D&E is founded as a family business specialising in plain bearings. Right from the start, the focus is on product knowledge and helping customers find the right bearings for their applications.

1967 – An important partnership takes shape

D&E begins a partnership with the German company Wieland Werke, a manufacturer of copper alloys. The relationship proves to be long-lasting and helps to broaden the company’s expertise and product range within plain bearings.

1971 – The next generation takes over

The second generation joins the family business. Building on the founders’ experience, the business is taken forward and new ideas are given free rein.

1991 – Expansion into Finland

D&E establishes itself in Finland, thereby taking its first step outside Sweden. With a local presence, the company is able to offer Finnish customers both products and technical advice.

1994 – The business grows in Norway

Three years after establishing itself in Finland, it is Norway’s turn. D&E is now present in three Nordic markets and can assist more customers with plain bearings and related products.

1999 – More efficient logistics and greater capacity

A high-bay warehouse is installed to streamline stock management and make better use of warehouse space. This provides greater capacity and facilitates the management of a growing product range.

2006 – The third generation joins the business

The third generation joins D&E. The family’s commitment to the company lives on, and knowledge is passed down through the generations.

2009 – Quality management takes another step forward

The Swedish operations become ISO-certified. This is a testament to the company’s quality management and means that procedures and processes comply with an internationally recognised standard.

2011 – New premises in Tumba

The parent company moves into its own premises in Tumba, south of Stockholm. Here, operations are consolidated in premises designed for offices, warehousing and the day-to-day handling of customer orders.

2016 – The D&E Bearings brand is born

The name D&E Bearings is launched as a unified brand. This gives the operations in the various countries a clearer identity and makes it easier to present the company’s comprehensive offering.

2021 – A new chapter begins

A new era of ownership begins. D&E continues as a family-owned and owner-managed company, drawing on the experience and specialist knowledge built up over the years.

2024 – Focus on quality and the environment in Finland

The Finnish operations are certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. The certifications cover both quality management and environmental management and form part of the company’s systematic improvement work.

2025 – A fresh start in Norway

D&E is committed to strengthening its position in the Norwegian market. With a clearer offering and increased visibility, the company aims to reach more customers and build on its existing relationships.

2026 – 60 years of specialist expertise

Six decades, three generations and many important milestones. D&E Bearings is celebrating its anniversary together with the employees, customers and partners who have been part of the journey.
